Mr. Nussbaum.com Premium - Control Menu (for teachers) | Control Panel (for students)

When you first log in to MrNussbaum.com Premium - you will notice a control menu at the top of the screen and fields for registering your class below (see picture). Before you begin registering your class, take a second to review each of the functions in the control menu. The picture below is what you will see when logging in for the first time. There are ten options in the control menu below. See below the picture for a description of each.

1.) Classes - Manage your classes by clicking on the "Classes" button. When you click on "Classes", you can add or delete classes and manage the classroom messaging system. This will be discussed in detail later. To add students to your newly created classes, you must click on "Students" in the control menu.

2.) Students - Manage your students by clicking on this button. When you click on "Students", you can add or delete students from any of the classes you have created.

3.) Recorded Scores - Manage your students' progress and scores by clicking on this button. The recorded scores section of the premium site is like your online gradebook. Here, you can see detailed reports of all student activity on the site. You can see their scores on various games, or, on the quizzes you have deployed. The gradebook is sortable, which means you can view grades by student, by deployed activity, by highest score, or by lowest score. The gradebook keeps advanced statistics for each student including their most recent score on an activity, their average score on an activity, their high score on an activity, when they completed an activity, and the average score for all users on the activity. The gradebook will be discussed in detail later.

4.) Spelling Tests - Give paperless spelling tests by clicking this button. If you hate grading spelling tests, this section of the premium site is for you! Simply input the spelling words and deploy the test to students. When students log on, they will have a form with fields for the spelling words. Read the spelling words in the order you put them in and everything is done for you, including grading and recording. The test will show students which of their words were spelled correctly and incorrectly.

5.) Quizzes - Use this button to make and deploy quizzes in four formats (multiple choice, short answer, true/false, and a combination of all three). You can also view student scores on quizzes you've deployed. Scores are sortable in several different ways.

6.) Regular Tournaments - Use this button to create and deploy intra-class tournaments on any of the 18 games available on the premium site. Students can be individually selected to participate in the tournaments. The system will randomly create match-ups, record all scores, and send status messages to all participants. Both teachers and students can dynamically view the real-time progress of the tournament by clicking on "view deployed tournament status" button. Click on the "reload" icon will update the tournament in real-time.

7.) Global Tournaments - Use this button to challenge classrooms across the world to a tournament in any of the 18 games available on the premium site. Teachers can send messages to any registered teachers requesting a tournament. Global tournaments are somewhat different than regular tournaments. So classrooms of different sizes can match up fairly, the class with the highest average score wins.

8.) Bookmarks - Use this button to deploy a list of bookmarked and hyperlinked websites to students. In this way, students can easily jump from website to website.

9.) Homework - Use this button to deploy weekly homework assignments in a handy chart to your registered students.

10.) NEW! - Events - Use this button to deploy events calendars to your students.

11.) NEW! - Polls - Use this button to monitor student-to-student polls created by students.

Control Panel for Students

Teachers - You'll notice that the student log in page looks much different than the teacher log in page. The teacher log in page is designed for teachers to create things for students to do, and the student log in page is designed for students to do the things the teacher creates for them. Furthermore, the student has access to all of the online games. Teachers do not have access to the games because it is assumed that the student is the one who will use them.

To access the quizzes, tournaments, spelling tests, bookmarks and more you create, the student must simply click the corresponding tab. For example, if you create a quiz called "American Revolution, " the student should click on "quizzes" and select "American Revolution" from the quizzes tab. He or she can then take the quiz on the same page.
